CBD has no sedative nature and will therefore not make you sleepy. Research has shown that CBD in fact has the opposite effect and can make you feel more alert. On the other hand, CBD and its pain-relieving properties can help those whose sleep patterns are affected by pain. No pain means a better night’s sleep.

There is preliminary research that CBD can improve quality of sleep for those who suffer from anxiety. A study published in 2019 involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep.
