Can CBD Boost Sports Performance?

The researchers stated, “CBD may exert a number of physiological, biochemical and psychological effects with the potential to benefit athletes”.

CBD was also linked to reducing stress by easing anxiety and improving quality of sleep, perfect for professional athletes who experience high levels of stress which can lead to anxiety. Findings have shown that these symptoms which can ultimately be improved using CBD products. An alternative study looked at the effects of cannabidiol with anxiety and sleep and found 72 adults presenting with primary concerns of anxiety or poor sleep. Anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%) and remained decreased during the study duration. Sleep scores improved within the first month in 48 patients (66.7%).

When looking at the numerous physiological, biochemical, and psychological effects sports can take on an individual, especially those at a professional level, studies do indeed show that CBD may hold the ability to boost performance.
